Upolu is the main island of Samoa with a land area of 1,115 square kilometres and a population of approximately 175,000. Upolu Island has distinct north and south shores with a large mountainous region occupying the interior and separating the north and south shores. This interior region is filled with tropical rainforests, trails and waterfalls. The entire coastline of the island is lined with palm trees, natural lagoons, sandy beaches and lava rockformations.

Le Vasa Resort is located at Cape Fatuosofia on the western tip of Upolu, just 6 miles or 9 kms from Faleolo International Airport, 25 miles or 40 kms from the downtown port city of Apia, and three miles or 5 kms from the ferry landing of Mulifanua Wharf, offering boat transport to the beautiful and rustic island of Savaii.

The island of Manono is only a short boat ride away from our resort, and a traditional village is located just east of the resort, providing opportunities to experience the true Fa’a Samoan culture. Please contact us to learn more about our visits to Manono.

Samoa Airways, Air New Zealand, Qantas, and Virigin frequently fly from New Zealand and Australia. Fiji Airways has several direct flights from Fiji and once a week from Hawaii.  Talofa Airways connects Apia to American Samoa.

Be careful to watch your baggage, as irregularities occur sometimes.  Local currency, Samoan tala is preferred to hire a taxi at the airport. A currency exchange is located at the airport. A fee of $65 tala departure tax is charged upon your exit to American Samoa only.
